Post COVID Austerity
In the post pandemic world there are many priorities mostly driven by economic necessity where people have to priorities both their time as well as their financial expenditure. This has directly affected the St Mawes Sea Angling club....with this in mind we have elected to reduce our expenditure and reduce the clubs activities accordingly. At the recent AGM held on 29th March 2023 the clubs officials proposed an austerity program and this was duly agreed and implemented until easier economic times return.

What are the Austerity Measures
|
It was agreed to enter the club into a strict set of “Austerity measures” designed principally, to enable the club to continue until better economic times return.
These austerity measure were agreed as being
3.Continue with the recorders reporting via spreadsheet/email into CFSA Recorder (Simon Toms) as this has proved to be working well over the last 18 months. 4.Suspend cup engraving for the foreseeable future…this is the most expensive annual cost to the club. Instead the cups will be bought to the awards meeting, the recipient will receive the cup and a small A5 sized certificate and the award of the cup will be photographed. A record sheet will be kept of the award, by the secretary and this information will then be posted onto the club website or Facebook page. The cups will be collected on the awards night and returned to storage. Note :If it is felt that the cups should then be subsequently engraved in a future year (TBD) the record can be used to put the names to the cups for continuity sake. With these measures in place it is believed that the club can continue to operate with a very small number of members (at least 6 or more) and still make its affiliation payment to the CFSA without bankrupting its current financial position. |
How long will this last ?
|
This is hoped to be a short term measure... but it will last until such time as we have more members or until the members can sustain a higher membership fee to enable the club to resume its normal activities.
